Clear strategy. Words that sound like you. AI that does the legwork.

I'm Rory Wilmer. I've spent more than twenty years in global creative agencies, helping major brands work out what to say, where to say it and how to say it well. InkByte is how I do it now: brand and digital strategy, writing, and AI set up properly for marketing teams.

What I do

Four things, done by someone who's done them for a long time. Use one, or take a brand all the way from strategy to the words on the page.

  • Brand strategy

Who you're for, what you say, and why anyone should believe it. Written down so a new starter can use it on day one.

    More on brand strategy
  • Digital strategy

Which channels earn their keep, what each one is for, and what to stop doing. A plan your team can run with the people you already have.

    More on digital strategy
  • Writing

Websites, campaigns, emails and product copy in your voice, not a template's. Every claim checked against what you can prove.

    More on copywriting
  • AI for marketing teams

ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini set up properly, with your voice, your facts and your rules. Then hands-on workshops, so the team uses it well and nothing generic goes out with your name on it.

InkByte also translates Czech and Russian marketing and business copy into English that reads as if it was written in English. About translation

Same brief. Two drafts.

Generic in, generic out. This is the difference that a clear strategy and a lot of editing make. Drag the slider to rewrite it.

Generic draft

Empowering businesses with seamless, cutting-edge logistics solutions. We're passionate about delivering world-class service. We take your supply chain to the next level. Contact us today to find out more!

On-voice draft

Next-day pallets, anywhere in the North of England. 42 lorries, run from Hull by the same family since 1987. 98.6% arrived on time last year. Ring the depot and a driver picks up.

Every line of the on-voice draft comes from the brief. Nothing is invented to fill a gap. Want your AI tools to write like that for a client? Client Brand Brain does it one brand at a time.

Where are you stuck?

Pick the one that sounds most like this week. I'll tell you what I'd do about it.

At a brand

We sound like everyone else in our category.

What I'd do: read what you and your competitors actually say, find the thing only you can claim, and write it into a voice your whole team can use.

What you get: positioning, messaging for each audience, and a voice guide with real before-and-after examples.

We post everywhere and can't tell what's working.

What I'd do: work out where your customers really are, decide what each channel is for, and tell you what to stop doing.

What you get: a channel audit, a plan your team can run with the people you have, and simple measures of what's working.

Our website says a lot and sells very little.

What I'd do: rewrite the pages that matter most, in your voice, with every claim checked against what you can prove.

What you get: web and landing pages, plus the campaign and email copy that points people to them.

The team uses AI, and everything comes out sounding the same.

What I'd do: set up ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini with your voice, your facts and your rules, then run a workshop so people know when to use it and when not to.

What you get: ready-made set-ups for each tool, a prompt library for your real jobs, a plain-English AI policy, and a hands-on workshop.

At an agency

We need a senior strategist for a pitch or a project.

What I'd do: join the team from the brief to the strategy, and write it up so the creative team can run with it.

What you get: the insight, the positioning and the comms strategy, written down properly rather than left in a deck.

Email me about this
Our writers need AI to sound like each client.

What I'd do: build a voice pack for each client, from their real copy, with ready-to-paste set-ups for ChatGPT and Claude.

What you get: a Client Brand Brain for each brand. £99 a brand, and you can see a full sample first.

We want the whole team using AI properly, with rules.

What I'd do: run hands-on workshops for each role, set up the tools, and agree a plain-English AI policy you can show clients.

What you get: trained people, shared set-ups, and an AI Workflow Kit for each role to keep using afterwards.

We need copy written or checked, fast.

What I'd do: write it, or edit what you have, in your client's voice, with every claim checked before it goes out.

What you get: finished copy for web, campaign, email or product, ready to present.
